Housed Working and Healthy is a fast growing non-profit and has an immediate opening for a Case Manager focused on  Employment Coach responsibilities to help our culinary school graduates be successful as they start working Part-time and transition into F/T employment.   Our students are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, which creates extra challenges for them and therefore they need extra assistance in applying for and keeping their new job.

Case Managers / Multiple Areas of Focus

Housed Working and Healthy is a fast growing non-profit and has immediate openings for Case Managers to help our culinary school. These positions involve Case Management, working directly with our students. In addition, these positions have a particular area of focus. The area of focus may change over time. Also the percentage of time devoted to the area of focus will change over time as our business needs change. We have both P/T and F/T positions available. 

Position Summaries:

Employment Coach will continue to refine and implement an employment program to assist students in securing culinary jobs at one of our employer partners. The goal of HWH is to advance student efforts to achieve economic self-reliance by helping them be successful as they start working Part-time and transition into F/T employment. The Case Manager will also provide counseling regarding techniques for reducing anxiety, managing stress, and managing their mental and physical health as they transition from our training program to the work environment.

Outreach Specialist will visit daily at referring agencies (homeless shelters, day shelters, etc.) to create awareness about our culinary training program and recruit prospective students.  Provide support and monitoring services and mentoring to prospective and current students.  Make referrals to ensure quality of services provided by HWH and other resources as deemed appropriate for successful move towards self-sufficiency. Assess prospective students as to their fit for our program. Work with students to have good attendance.

Van Driver will pick up / drop off students for our morning and afternoon shifts Tues – Friday from multiple stops throughout the metro area, to and from our commercial kitchen in SW Denver. Morning shifts need to have our students arrive at our location by 845a. This may require the driver to go into the shelter to see where students are if they are not at the designated pickup point, and possibly wait for them if they are only a few minutes late. During the day, you will help with Case Worker activities, administrative duties, and additional driving of students to work areas and appointments. Dismissal happens at 330p, and you will then drive the students back to the original pickup points, and return the van to our location.

All positions report to the Executive Director and take direction from other Case Managers and staff.

Qualifications:

Education:  BS in Human Services or similar degree preferred or equivalent combination of work and lived experience.

Experience:   Prefer lived experience similar to those we serve, and 3+ years hands on experience in a facilitating role serving adults with multiple barriers to employment.  Previous experience working with recruiting, job development and placement is helpful.  Experience should include needs assessment, job search support, and placement assistance.   Strong coaching and counseling skills.  Food industry experience and experience working with Head Chefs would be helpful.

Other:  Must possess own transportation, have a good driving record, maintain a valid driver’s license and provide proof of insurance coverage that meets agency coverage standards; possess basic computer skills and be able to work virtually. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

Our mission is to help people return to independent living and be self-sufficient. The HWH model is partner based and encompasses workforce training and mental health services. This supportive structure and services helps people stabilize, develop a support network, become trained, gain experience, get a job, secure independent housing and ultimately become self-sufficient. 

We work with local agencies that refer clients to our free culinary training program. Our curriculum is delivered in our commercial kitchen (Ft Logan Eatery) on the Ft Logan campus in SW Denver. After completing the curriculum, students continue onsite for an additional 8 – 12 weeks to further prepare for long term employment.
