The Colorado Homeless Contribution Income Tax Credit benefits taxpayers who want to support families and individuals experiencing homelessness by providing a state tax credit for the donor.

Housed Working & Healthy is now approved for the
Colorado Homeless Contribution Income Tax Credit.

Contributions of $100.00 or more qualify for the tax credit.

The State of Colorado allows you to take a 25% tax credit on your state income taxes when you donate to one of four Catholic Charities’ homeless shelters through the Colorado Homeless Contribution Income Tax Credit.

Remember, this is a tax credit, not just a tax deduction!

This is a new tax credit program and the first ever homeless-specific tax credit program! 

The Colorado Homeless Contribution Tax Credit provides a 25% state income tax credit to Colorado taxpayers who contribute to eligible homelessness-related projects within Colorado. Partners in Housing’s Family Self-Sufficiency Program is an approved project. Gifts made to Partners in Housing of $100+ are eligible for the new Homeless Contribution Tax Credit, including cumulative gifts that total $100+ by year-end.

Please note, the Colorado statute (C.R.S. 39-22-548) for this particular tax credit requires a full Social Security Number to be on the distributed tax credit certificate

How to Give for Colorado’s Homeless Contribution Tax Credit

To make a donation for Colorado’s Homeless Contribution Tax Credit, please include “HCTC” in the memo line of your check (made payable to Partners in Housing) or if giving online, under “Gift Preferences”, select the HCTC option.

HWH Program Details

Housed, Working and Healthy’s Program encompass several key areas aimed at addressing homelessness, providing workforce training, and promoting self-sufficiency among program participants.

Program objectives include:

1. Provide Comprehensive Support: HWH offers comprehensive support to individuals experiencing homelessness by providing workforce training, offering mental health support, and facilitating access to community resources. The overarching objective is to create a supportive environment where participants can address the root causes of their homelessness and work towards stable, independent living and employment.

2. Deliver Culinary Workforce Training: A primary objective of HWH is to deliver a high-quality culinary workforce training program that equips participants with practical skills, industry certifications, and job readiness for employment in the culinary arts. HWH provides hands-on training, internships, and certifications to prepare participants for successful careers in food service.

3. Facilitate Employment Placement: HWH facilitates employment placement for program graduates by partnering with employers in the culinary industry, including grocery stores, retirement homes, and fast-casual restaurants. The objective is to connect participants with career-oriented positions that offer livable wages, opportunities for advancement, and long-term stability in the workforce.

4. Provide Mental Health Support: Recognizing the prevalence of mental health issues among individuals experiencing homelessness, HWH provides comprehensive mental health support services. This includes onsite therapy, peer support, workshops addressing mental health challenges, and individualized case management to help participants manage their mental well-being and overcome barriers to self-sufficiency.

5. Promote Self-Sufficiency: The ultimate objective of HWH is to promote self-sufficiency among program participants by helping them secure and maintain employment, and access supportive services. By providing a combination of workforce training and wraparound support, HWH empowers individuals to rebuild their lives, break the cycle of homelessness, and achieve long-term stability and independence.

By focusing on these key areas, HWH makes a positive impact on the lives of program participants and the Denver community.

How to file a return

HOW TO CLAIM THE CREDIT
Taxpayers must file an annual income tax return along with the associated credit schedule in order to claim the credit. Taxpayer must submit with their return a copy of the completed Child Care Contribution Tax Credit Certification (Form DR 1317) obtained from the donee organization certifying the contribution.
