Social Media Intern (Volunteer) 

We are looking for a Social Media Intern to create, launch and publish content via various social channels such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.  You will work closely with the Executive Director, Case Manager, and Executive Chef to produce messaging for a variety of audiences: students, volunteers, donors, etc.

This is a volunteer position with eligibility for course credit (if applicable)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a social media content strategy and calendar
  • Present recommendations regarding current and new approaches
  • Increase “followers/friends” on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram
  • Track metrics to evaluate progress
  • Develop repository for content 
  • Create posts and stories
  • Anything else that is  required for maintaining the nonprofit’s social media presence 

Requirements:

This position requires strong communication skills and a high level of organization and creative thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and projects while meeting deadlines. Must be able to work independently and demonstrate the ability to take initiative

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in progress in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Design, or related field
  • Some previous experience in creative, digital marketing or content management is preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient understanding of existing and emergent social media technologies 
  • Proficient using digital design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Figma, etc.
  • Experience using social media management tools such as HootSuite, 

Internship Duration and Terms:

  • Approx 8 hours/week – primarily remote – with visits to the HWH Kitchen as necessary
  • This is a volunteer position with eligibility for course credit (if applicable)

ABOUT HOUSED WORKING AND HEALTHY

The mission of Housed Working and Healthy  is to help people return to independent living and be self-sufficient. The HWH model is partner based and encompasses housing, mental health services, workforce training and employment. This supportive structure and services helps people stabilize, develop a support network, become trained, gain experience, get a job, secure independent housing and ultimately become self-sufficient. 

We work with local agencies that refer clients to our program. Our curriculum is delivered in our commercial kitchen on the Ft Logan campus in SW Denver in partnership with Emily Griffith Technical College (participants receive course credit) over a 6 week period. 

After completing the curriculum, students continue onsite for an additional 6 – 14 weeks to further prepare for long term employment. During the internship students apply the culinary skills they have learned to produce orders for customers, giving them practical experience in our commercial kitchen.We do not place people in fast food or restaurants, but rather retirement homes, hospitals and other hospitality companies.

We are located in SW Denver on the Fort Logan campus (3525 W. Oxford Avenue, Denver CO 80236).
